Medical University of South Carolina

Richard Arendale grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Spring of 2021. As an undergraduate, Richard completed a BS in biology alongside achieving minors in chemistry and Spanish. During this time, he was selected as a DeBakey Summer Surgery student and was fortunate to first work with the Baylor transplant program during this experience. Having garnered exposure to the practice of medicine in locations as remote as Lubango, Angola, he has a specific passion for surgery and appreciates the opportunity to perform research within this field. An aspiring medical school student, since graduating from UNC Richard has moved to Charleston, South Carolina and is a medical scribe for the MUSC transplant program. Furthermore, as an EMT certified by the US National Registry, on the weekends he works in EMS and enjoys the unpredictable nature of the job. In addition to these clinical experiences, he is readily involved in research projects with the transplant doctors of MUSC. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, fly-fishing, and pulling for UNC Basketball.
