Dr. Jacentha Buggs received her Medical Degree from Wayne State University. Dr. Buggs completed both her General Surgery Residency and Transplant Surgery Fellowship at the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in affiliation with LifeLink. She currently performs abdominal transplant procurement operations with Tampa General Hospital and LifeLink of Florida. When she is not in the operating room, Dr. Buggs coordinates the PI-initiated research efforts with undergraduate and medical students at the Transplant Institute at TGH. In addition, she partners with the University of South Florida on renal physiology basic science research related to the role of macula densa nitric oxide synthase in salt-sensitive hypertension and modulation of the Na/K ATPase activity in donor kidneys. Her professional interests focus on community education related to organ donation, CPR instruction, and race-related healthcare disparities.
