Jose Barandiaran Cornejo MD

Dr. Jose F. Barandiaran was born in Lima, Peru where he obtained his medical degree at Universidad de San Martin de Porres. His general surgery residency started as a preliminary resident at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in MD, later transitioning to a categorical position and graduating at Lankenau Medical Center in PA. 

Currently, he is an ACS board certified general surgeon and the senior abdominal transplant surgery fellow at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital program in Miami, FL. Dr. Barandiaran is passionate about all areas in transplantation, with special interest on innovation and developing creative ways to expand the organ donor pool.

When not on involved on clinical duties, he enjoys spending time with his wife, preferably in the outdoors with a nice hiking trail, and trying new recipes in the kitchen they can work on together.
