Joshua Levitsky MD, MS

Joshua Levitsky, MD, MS is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine and Surgery in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Levitsky received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and then went on to receive his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. He pursued his residency and fellowship at the University of Chicago Hospitals, in the Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology departments. He then completed a two-year Transplant Hepatology fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and received the AASLD/Schering Hepatology Fellowship Award.

Dr. Levitsky is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Transplant Hepatology. Dr. Levitsky is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, American Society of Transplantation, and International Liver Transplantation Society. He is currently the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship Director at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Director of Liver Transplant Research.

Dr. Levitsky has published numerous peer-reviewed journal entries, abstracts, book chapters and reviews on topics in gastroenterology, hepatology, and liver transplantation and is on the editorial boards of Liver Transplantation and the American Journal of Transplantation. He is the principal and co-investigator for a number of NIH, pharmaceutical and investigator-initiated trials. He has given several guest lectures, research presentations, and industry presentations over the years and has served on various advisory boards relevant to liver disease and transplantation.
