Julie Riggs is a family nurse practitioner at University of Maryland Medical Center. She received a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2019 from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. She has been a part of the lung transplant program at University of Maryland Medical Center since 2020. She also has worked in an urgent care setting and with COVID19 emergency relief efforts. Prior to completing her nurse practitioner studies she worked as a registered nurse for 8 years in a cardiothoracic surgery unit where she cared for a broad range of patients including those who had received heart transplants, lung transplants, or ventricular assist devices. She also has experience with program development and grants management in the community health setting. Her interests include a wide range of issues in clinical care of the lung transplant patient, process improvements, patient/staff education, and nurse practitioner mentorship.
