Dr. Kenneth Brayman is a Professor of Surgery, Medicine, Pediatrics and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia. Dr. Brayman is the Clinical Surgical Director of the Kidney, Pancreas and Islet transplant programs at the UVa Health System and the director of the Center for Cellular Therapy and Biologic Therapeutics. He's also the Nabi Professor of Transplantation. Dr Brayman's lab investigates immune and cell therapy as well as regenerative medicine in autoimmune diabetes. His research interests include Islet transplantation, transplantation tolerance, gene therapy, xenotransplantation, transplant immunosuppression, chronic allograft nephropathy, transplantation in patients with HIV. He was responsible for developing and establishing the Islet Isolation GMP Facility at UVA, and has overseen the allo- and auto-transplantation of islets in more than 20 recipients.
