Steven Elzein MD

Steven M. Elzein, MD is currently a general surgery resident at Houston Methodist Hospital with an interest in transplantation. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, graduating with Honors Research Distinction. He spent seven years under the mentorship of Ginny Bumgardner, MD, PhD, researching various topics within transplant immunology. His work has been shared in seven published manuscripts and multiple oral and poster presentations including the ASTS Winter Symposium where he was recognized with a poster of distinction award. He has been supported by various intramural and extramural grants and has been distinguished as an ASTS Presidential Student Mentor Award recipient. Upon completion of general surgery residency, Steven plans to pursue a fellowship in transplant surgery.
