Trine Engebretsen, M.D., M.S. is an Assistant Professor at the Texas Transplant Center at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Dr. Engebretsen is a board-certified surgeon specializing in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation. She completed Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana and General Surgery Residency in the Department of Surgery at the Medical Center of Central Georgia and Mercer University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree at F.I.U. Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami and a master's degree in biomedical science from Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. She is a former Board of Directors Member for the United Network for Organ Sharing and liver transplant recipient. Dr. Engebretsen has been an organ perfusionist and a quality assurance coordinator for Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Transplant Ambassador for the National Kidney Foundation at the U.S. Transplant Games. Additionally, she served as General Manager of Transplant Australia Inc. and Assistant Director for the 2004 Australian Transplant Games. She has served as a TEDx Speaker on organ donation and authored multiple donor education programs.
